Dr. Ding Ning joined Zhan Qimin and Cui Yongping’s group at SZBL as a postdoctoral fellow in esophageal carcinoma microenvironment research in November 2020. In 2014, Dr. Ding completed her undergraduate study at the China Pharmaceutical University. She earned her doctorate from the Nanjing Medical University and the Guangdong University of Technology in June 2020.
Zhan Qimin and Cui Yongping have long-standing collaboration in esophageal carcinoma research. Their research, focusing on tumor molecular biology and tumor translational research, have comprehensively revealed genetic mutation background of esophageal carcinoma at genome level, and obtained positive outcomes in the research of the genetic evolution process, the molecular mechanism of treatment tolerance during recurrence and metastasis of esophageal carcinoma, and the development of esophageal carcinoma biomarkers.
Research in Zhan Qimin and Cui Yongping Lab at SZBL has been centering around esophageal carcinoma, a long-term threatening malignant tumor to the Chinese population. The group had been awarded with Guandong provincial level grant for major basic research. In the future, the group will continue to combine basic, translational and clinical research on esophageal carcinoma, supporting the development of personalized treatment, diagnosis and therapeutics, and precision medicine of esophageal carcinoma.

The Postdoctoral Support Program for Innovative Talents is a special intellectual program launched by the China Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and the National Postdoctoral Commission to support top young scientific talents during their postdoctoral career. The program aims to cultivate innovative science leaders and to provide greater intellectual support for China’s strategic development in science and technology.
In 2020, SZBL was accredited as a Postdoctoral Research Center by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and the National Postdoctoral Commission. The laboratory has established joint postdoctoral training programs with several renowned Chinese universities including Peking University, Tsinghua University, University of Science and Technology of China, East China Normal University, Sun Yat-Sen University, and the Southern University of Science and Technology. As part of the laboratory’s talent cultivation scheme, postdoctoral acquisition and training has been a key focus of SZBL. The group of postdoctoral fellows in SZBL has reached 34 by far, with the other 20 postdoc researchers incoming. SZBL will continue to improve the postdoctoral management system in terms of the demands of talent growth, and create a talent base with favorable ecosystem for the high-quality development of talent, research and innovation.
