The SZBL Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) on December 12 convened its 2021 annual retreat. More than 70 scientific and administrative staff attended the event onsite or through virtual link. SZBL Director Zhan Qimin was invited to deliver remarks. Professor Zhang Zemin, Head of ICR, chaired the event.
Professor Zhang Zemin opened the retreat by welcoming all participants. As he reviewing the progress made by ICR since its inception, Professor Zhang delightedly announced that the ICR has yielded fruitful results thanks to its 12 established research groups and over 70 staff. He said that the ICR in the 2021 was joined by three new PIs, and moreover, the institute has enjoyed good scientific deliverable in terms of journal publication and program application. He pointed out that all members of ICR should work together and take the retreat as an opportunity to reflect on past experience and energize internal exchanges, and build on that to usher in a new future.
SZBL Director Zhan Qimin highly commended on the work of the ICR in his remarks. He expressed appreciation to the unremitting efforts to all ICR members, saying all the hard work and exciting results make an inseparable contribution and represent an important part to the overall development of the SZBL, particularly in research in talent acquisition. He also said that as an ICR member himself, he very much looked forward to deeper exchange and discussion with the other members in the following schedules. As last, he extended best wishes to ICR in the coming year.
ICR PIs delivered presentations to report on their work of their labs over the year 2021.





The retreat conducted full exchanges and discussions on a number of cutting-edge topics in cancer research, and pooled consensus on further cross-cutting research. After the report section, the ICR PIs held a meeting to continue discussion talent acquisition, procurement and lab venues. Laboratory leadership attended the meeting.
